Sharing the dream

192
I have begun voraciously reading Antarctic literature (I'll put together a list of the good ones eventually). I do this to learn, to pick up advice. I feel that the more I know of the history of expeditions there, of other men's struggles and victories and tragedies, the better equipped I shall be and the more right I will feel to step foot on that land. In the same way that you would only feel a thrill to walk out onto the turf at Elland Road if you knew the history and the significance and if you had ever dared to hope about it.
