John Muir - a real adventurer
I really admire the achievements of Australian adventurer John Muir. He's climbed Everest and trekked to both poles. I learnt about his walk across Oz (thanks, Wolf) as I am currently toying with the idea of walking across Australia. The vid's a bit cheesy, but it's a heck of an expedition.

And I assume you're equally impressed by John Muir, the Scottish/American wilderness guru and writer. His accounts of life in the High Sierras are extraordinary. And it was apparently a camping trip with President Theodore Roosevelt that led to the establishment of the USA's national parks system. How many modern day heads of state disappear off for a few days in the wilds with a beaded mystic...? Maybe if more did, the world wouldn't be in such a bad state.
